Life Abroad

This Weekend Was

KC’s mom is in town to visit. She is helping us with our move and getting some quality time with Prim (which means KC and I get to run out for dates here and there, what a treat!) We spent the weekend exploring the city, since our apartment stuff is kind of on hold until later this week (we move in Friday! I can’t wait.)

img_8810On Saturday we headed over to Vondelpark in the afternoon, since the weather was nice and we figured Prim would enjoy roaming around on the grass. There were tons of people out taking advantage of the sunshine. Prim was ecstatic over the number of dogs running around, and one large puppy even ran right up to her and licked her face.

We wandered through the park and saw the ponds, play structures and kids-only section, which was FULL of kids. They were all running around playing in the giant wading pool, and I don’t know that I’ve ever seen that many strollers in one place in my life.

Further down there was a stage with a band playing music and a little outdoor market that was selling used furniture and adorable kids clothes. We didn’t buy anything, but it was fun seeing people wandering around with beers buying up the goods, and Prim was totally into the music (I mean, this girl takes any opportunity to dance.)

That evening KC and I went out to dinner near city center at The French Connection (it was so fancy!) The food was good and the ambiance was great. Afterwards we walked a few blocks to one of my favorite beer bars, Cafe Gollem, and I was reunited with my favorite beer that’s impossible to find in the US.

I’m so excited to move into our place later this week and to update you all on where we’re living! And hopefully Prim can get back onto her regular routine once we’re settled… Man, jet lag + sleeping in a new place — it’s tough, guys!
