Baby / weekend

Swings!

img_7422The weekend before last we took a trip to a local park and Prim had her first experience with the swings. And actually, now that I think about it, this was her first experience with a swing, period, since we don’t own a baby swing.

I wasn’t really sure how Prim would like the swing, given that she’s still so little, but she absolutely loved it. It was so sweet watching her smile so big as KC would push her just a little bit higher, and I have pictures and video of her clapping as she swings because she was so happy.

img_7442I’m not sure exactly how long Prim was hanging out in the swing, but it seemed like she would have happily stayed there all day if we’d given her the option.

It’s kind of funny the things that become “weekend-worthy” once you have a baby. Pre-Prim, the idea of hanging out at a kids park (sans keg and slosh ball accoutrement, with actual children) would have been like, uhhhh no thank you. Not only because it’s a little creepy to just go hang out at a playground without a child accompanying you, but because weekends were previously reserved for sleeping late, having long lunches out at a restaurant, drinking with friends, and jetting off on the occasional weekend getaway. And I would be lying if I said there wasn’t a small part of me that misses all of that just a little bit, but that part is outweighed so heavily now by how amazing it is to watch Prim grow and experience life.

I suspect that the days of leisurely weekends will return… eventually. But for now, I can’t think of anything better than spending the day with this little one and her Daddy.
