NYC Post 6: Park It

Sadly, Wednesday was our final day in the big city.  We met Carey and Debbie for breakfast at Murray’s Bagels near Union Square. I felt like a bit of a tourist when I ordered the whole-wheat everything bagel toasted with cream cheese, and the worker snidely informed me that their “bagels are fresh” so they don’t toast them. Woops, my mistake. The bagels were good and the company was even better. I’m definitely missing my New York girls now that I’m back in Oakland!

After bagels, KC and I headed over to the MoMA to check out what was happening in the art world.  Here are some of the things we saw…

A chandelier made from teapots and teacups:

Van Gogh’s Starry Starry Night:

Some of Cezanne’s work:

And of course, Pollack:

After the MoMA, we headed over to Stumptown Coffee for a pick-me-up. KC had an iced coffee and I ordered an iced cappuccino. After feeling that the cappuccino was inadequate for just how tired I was, I ended up ordering an iced quad latte which KC stole most of. So sneaky that boy.

After coffee, we headed over to Central Park where we rented bikes to ride around.  I hadn’t ridden a bike in years, but luckily that saying, “just like riding a bike,” seems to be actually based on fact.

The park is very pretty.  I wouldnt definitely recommend hanging out there on a sunny day.

After our bike ride, we met our friend Anjali for drinks at Social. Catching up was nice, and the cold beer was just the thing on that hot day.

After drinks, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for our night out on Broadway.  We caught the sunset from our hotel window:

Then headed off to see The Lion King on Broadway.  Just like most things Disney, it was quite magical.

The rest of our night was fairly uneventful — late night pizza, then packing before getting only 2 1/2 hours of sleep and heading to the airport.

Well, that’s the end of our New York adventure!  We had a GREAT time and I (and I think KC) can’t wait to go back.

Shout outs to all our New York friends who took time out of their busy schedules to hang out and show us around; and a special THANK YOU to Debbie and Carey — the best hostesses a girl could ask for.  Thanks for putting us up and putting up with us!  We really appreciate it. 🙂
