Vacay!

^^suuuuuper old pictures from our Hawaii trip back in 2009 (when we were babies without babies)^^

KC was able to get some time off of work in August, so we decided to take advantage by booking a trip. One of the things we really want to take advantage of while we live in Europe is how close everything is. Flights, for the most part, are short and inexpensive (especially compared to anything originating in California), so we have big plans to try and steal some long weekends exploring the countries and cities nearby.

Since we had a whole week to work with, we opted to look into flying to a nearby island. After spending the past couple of months exploring and getting used to a new city, I was in the mood to post up somewhere and do a little less sightseeing and a little more “laying by the water.”

After a bit of research, we decided on a week in Mallorca, Spain. They have a number of resorts there that are family friendly, and the island itself is supposed to be beautiful and beachy. Traveling with a child is certainly not as easy and carefree as our vacations used to be, but luckily we were able to find a place that would accommodate our status as a family of three.

Truthfully, I never really envisioned myself wanting to go to an all-inclusive beach resort, but now that we have Prim in the mix, it kind of sounds like a dream. I don’t have to worry about packing food for her for the week (aside from some snacks for the short flight), or figuring out the closest grocery store to our hotel once we arrive. And while I don’t have high hopes for any sort of buffet-style meal, the idea of not having to cook anything for an entire week sounds like a vacation in and of itself. Not to mention that our hotel has one bedroom suites, so we won’t be left hiding in the closet being absolutely silent after Prim goes to bed at 8pm. (Add that to the list of things I totally never thought about before having kids!)

Even though I know traveling with kids is more of a “trip” and less of a “vacation,” I am still counting down the days until our little adventure. Um, and Prim (who is now fully walking) toddling around in her little swimsuit? I can’t think of anything cuter.

PS: In case you’re wondering, yes, I am a super-hip mama (read: totally lame and crazy about SPF) so Prim’s swimsuit totally has sleeves. Ahem, and so does mine. 😉 (Prim’s exact swimsuit is no longer available, but this one is similar.)
